Advice for Women Who Work in Herding and the Like Regarding Adhering to Hijab

Question:
The Shaykh: Some women work on a farm, tending to sheep, camels, cows, or the like. How do you advise them regarding how to observe hijab?

Answer:
She may work, and there is no harm if there is no free mixing of men and women and no danger. She should wear the niqab, which covers the face but leaves the eyes, or both eyes, visible, while the rest is covered. There is no blame on her for this.

The presenter : May Allah reward you. Regarding the hijab for the rest of the body, what should that clothing be like?

The Shaykh : It should be ordinary clothing that covers the head and the entire body. Yes.

The presenter : The clothing of this era has specific characteristics and methods of tailoring.

The Shaykh : In any case, the clothing should be such that it does not cause fitnah (trial, discord or temptation) if men see it. It should be clothing that does not contain causes of fitnah, and it should cover her entire body, even her feet. Yes.
