Explanation of the Description of the Lawful Hijab
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q: There is also a group of questions revolving around the hijab. Some of these questions clarify the nature of the hijab worn by some women in some of these hospitals. We hope that Your Eminence will clarify the description of the lawful hijab that is obligatory, especially in a case like this hijab.
A: The lawful hijab is that the woman covers her entire body from men: the head, the face, the chest, the leg, and the hand; because they are all 'awrah (the part of the body that must be covered) with respect to a man who is not a mahram (a relative one may not marry); due to the saying of Allah (Exalted and Majestic is He):[Al-Ahzab 33:53] the verse [Al-Ahzab: 53] and His saying: The intended meaning by that is the wives of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and other women are the same in the ruling. And He (Glorified and Exalted is He) made it clear that veiling is purer for the hearts of men and women and further from fitnah (trial, discord or temptation).
And He (Glorified and Exalted is He) said:[An-Nur 24:31] the verse [An-Nur: 31] The face is among the greatest of adornment, and the hair is likewise, and the hand is likewise. It is possible for the woman to cover her face with the niqab (the face veil), which is that which the eyes or one of them appear from, and the face is covered; because she needs her eye to be visible to know the way. And it is possible for her to veil with a hijab other than the niqab, such as the khimar (the head covering), which does not prevent her from looking at her way, but she conceals her adornment and covers her head and her entire body.
And the woman must avoid using perfume when she goes out to the market or the mosque or the place of work if she is an employee; because that is among the causes of fitnah (trial, discord or temptation) regarding her.

And when you ask [his wives] for something, ask them from behind a partition. That is purer for your hearts and their hearts.
And when you ask them

not expose their adornment except to their husbands, their fathers
