about the Veil of Allah

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : May Allah reward you. What is meant by the veil?

The Shaykh : What?

The questioner : If the veil were removed

The Shaykh : Yes, the veil is light

The questioner : The veil

The Shaykh : The veil is light. Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) has veiled Himself from His servants with a great veil of light

The questioner : Of light

The Shaykh : Light created by Allah, which is among what Allah created

The questioner : How does it encompass Allah?

The Shaykh : This is a problem, my brothers. We have told you, and we say again and again, that in matters of the unseen, there is no "how." There is only, what? Belief and submission. As for "how," that is not for us. Restrain your tongue from two things: "how" and "why." "How" and "why." But "with what" is fine. If someone tells you to do something, you say "with what I do it," but do not say "why I do it" and do not say "how I do it," because that is the reality of submission. Likewise, regarding matters of information: this great light that Allah (Mighty and Majestic) created, by which He veils Himself from the servants—we do not know its nature. We do not know. If it is Paradise, which is our abode, we do not know its nature, as He the Exalted said:
I have prepared for My righteous slaves (such excellent things) as no eye has ever seen, nor an ear has ever heard nor a human heart can ever think of. أعدتت لعبادي الصالحين ما لا عين رأت ولا أذُنٌ سمعت ولا خطر على قلب بشر
Sahih al-Bukhari 7498
and it is prepared for us, if Allah wills. So how can we say about the light that Allah (Mighty and Majestic) created, by which He veils Himself from His servants, that this is something we do not know? It is beyond our imagination. Yes.

The questioner : It is not correct...

The Shaykh : Yes.
