Ruling on the follower not following the imam in bowing and prostration due to forgetfulness

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
The first message in this episode is one that reached the program from Makkah al-Mukarramah, sent by one of the female listeners, identified as (H. A. H.). Our sister has a number of questions, among which is one in which she says: I am a girl who prayed the Fajr prayer in congregation in the mosque. While the imam was reciting the surah after al-Fatihah, he said takbir and prostrated in prostration of recitation. I did not know that he was prostrating for recitation, so I bowed, and the women next to me also bowed. Then the imam said takbir and began to complete the surah, and then he bowed, so I bowed with him a second time, and some of the women prostrated. What is the ruling on that prayer for me, and for the women like me? May Allah reward you with good.

Answer:
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon the Messenger of Allah, and upon his family and his Companions, and upon those who follow his guidance. As for what follows:
The ruling in this matter is that the women who bowed with him after he had bowed have a valid prayer, and their first bowing was due to ignorance; so it does not harm their prayer. Their prayer is valid, and their first bowing, which they performed while he was prostrating for recitation, does not harm them because of the ignorance. As for those who did not bow with him, but rather prostrated, and then continued in the prayer, and did not bow with him, and did not perform a rak'ah after the taslim, they must make up that prayer. They must make it up now with the intention of making up that prayer; because they omitted a rak'ah from the prayer, so the interval became long. Therefore, they must perform the prayer in full, making it up in full. And success is from Allah.

The presenter : May Allah reward you with good, and may He do you good.
