What is the meaning of: “If you came to me with the earth full of sins”?

Question:
After this, a message was received for the program from one of the listening brothers. He says: I am Sudanese. In his message, he says: I ask you about the phrase “the earth full of” mentioned in some wordings of the hadith of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)?

Answer:
It came in the hadith from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said:
Allah the Exalted says:يقول الله 
: “If you came to me with the earth full of sins, then met me not associating anything with Me, I would meet you with the earth full of forgiveness”. “The earth full of” means what is near its fullness, “the earth full of” means its fullness, or what is near its fullness. This is an expression of the breadth of His generosity (Glorified and Exalted is He) and His bounty.
The meaning is that if you were to meet me with all sins except shirk (associating partners with Allah), He (Exalted and Majestic is He) forgives whoever repents to Him and turns back to Him. Likewise, if the one who committed shirk repents, Allah turns to him in forgiveness. But whoever dies upon shirk, it is not forgiven for him; rather, for him is the Fire forever—may Allah keep us safe from it—by the saying of Allah: :
Indeed, Allah does not forgive association with Himإِنَّ اللَّهَ لا يَغْفِرُ أَنْ يُشْرَكَ بِهِ
[An-Nisa: 48]. Then He, the Exalted, said:
And He forgives what is less than that for whom He wills.وَيَغْفِرُ مَا دُونَ ذَلِكَ لِمَنْ يَشَاءُ
[An-Nisa: 48]. Thus, He made clear in His great Book that shirk is not forgiven, and that what is less than it is under His will. So whoever comes to Him with sins less than shirk, repenting and regretting, Allah turns to him in forgiveness. And if he comes not repenting, he is under the will of Allah, and it is hoped that Allah will turn to him in forgiveness and pardon him if he has righteous deeds, or if he dies with a good ending.
So the intended meaning is: that this contains a promise, it contains hope, a promise for the one who dies upon sins if he meets Allah as a monotheist, not as one who associates partners with Allah; that Allah will forgive him. So this is from the hadiths of hope, from the hadiths of promise. And there are hadiths of warning for the one who dies upon sins.
So it is obligatory upon the sinner, it is obligatory upon him to hasten with repentance, and not to cling to the hadiths of hope. Rather, he must fear the warning of Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He), he must fear the warning, and have good opinion of his Lord (Exalted and Majestic is He), so he hastens with repentance, and leaving sins, and does not cling to hope and persist in sins. So he is in great danger, because he is threatened with the Fire if he persists in sins.
So it is obligatory upon the Muslim to hasten to what pleases Allah, and to leave what Allah has forbidden, with his good opinion of his Lord and his hope that He will forgive what may remain of his sins and bad deeds if he dies upon some of that. He has good opinion of his Lord and hopes that He will forgive him, but he does not be lax, nor does he rely on hope and persist in sins and bad deeds.
So you, O servant of Allah, you must fear persistence, and you must hasten with sincere repentance from your sins; perhaps you will attain forgiveness and mercy; because Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) promised forgiveness for the one who does not persist, as in this noble verse, with hope for the one who dies upon sins; he should have good opinion of Allah, not despair, but he should fear, and strive in repentance, in leaving sins—as long as he is in the bond of life—fearing the anger of Allah; and fearing His punishment (Glorified and Exalted is He). Yes.

The presenter : May Allah reward you with good, and may He do you good.
