The ruling on fasting with the intention of expiation and voluntary fasting
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
Is it permissible to combine the fasting for expiation with voluntary fasting with two intentions?
Answer:
The expiation has its own intention, and the voluntary act has its own intention. Therefore, it is obligatory for him to fast the expiation with its intention. If it happens that he fasts it on a Monday or a Thursday, which he used to fast intending thereby the expiation, it suffices for him with the intention of the expiation. Even if it happens to be a Monday or a Thursday that he used to fast, and he says: "I would like to make it part of my fasting days," or the white days, while intending the expiation; it suffices for him. We hope for him the two rewards, we hope for him the two rewards.
