The Ruling on Treating Illness with the Qur'an and the Sunnah and Compiling Books on the Subject

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
One of the listening brothers asks your Eminence and says: The sender, 'Isa' Ali, asks and says: Some books have been published under titles such as: "Treat Yourself with the Qur'an," "Treat Yourself with Prophetic Medicine," and "The Muhammadian Pharmacy." What is your comment on these books, and to what extent are they beneficial?

Answer:
I have not looked into them, but the meaning is correct. Treatment with the Qur'an and the Sunnah is good, such as reciting al-Fatihah over oneself and repeating it, reciting:
Say, "He is Allah, [who is] One,قل هو الله أحد
[Al-Ikhlas 112:1]
and the two Mu'awwidhat, or some other verses, blowing on one's chest, blowing on the site of the illness; all of this is good and there is no harm in it. This is the correct treatment. Treatment with the Qur'an and with good Prophetic supplications is all good. But if one treats himself ... also with other things, treating himself with permissible things, other than the Qur'an, such as herbs, pills, injections, or anything else that is beneficial; then there is no harm in that, praise be to Allah. Allah says -Exalted and Majestic is He- in His noble Book:
Eat and drink.كُلُوا وَاشْرَبُوا
[al-Baqarah:60] .... meaning: the permissible. And He says:
eat from the good things which We have provided for you and be grateful to Allahكُلُوا مِنْ طَيِّبَاتِ مَا رَزَقْنَاكُمْ وَاشْكُرُوا لِلَّهِ
[al-Baqarah:172].
And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Allah has not sent down a disease except that He has sent down for it a cure, and the one who knows it knows it, and the one who does not know it does not know itما أنزل الله داء إلا أنزل له شفاء، علمه من علمه، وجهله من جهله
Sunan al-Bayhaqi 17:517
So Allah has commanded us to eat from the good things and to seek treatment, and we must adhere to the Shari'ah restriction, that the medicine does not contain any prohibition, meaning: one treats himself with permissible things. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
so treat yourselves medically, but use nothing unlawfulعباد الله! تداووا، ولا تداووا بحرام
Sunan Abi Dawud 3874Da'if (Al-Albani)
And a man said to him: O Messenger of Allah! I make intoxicants for medicine, not for drinking. He said:
It is certainly not a treatment, rather, it is a disease.إنها ليست بدواء ولكنها داء
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 2046Sahih (Darussalam)
So intoxicants, pork, dogs, and the like of that are not used for treatment; because they are forbidden. Yes.

The presenter : May Allah reward you with good, and may He do you good.
