The Ruling on Treating Oneself with Forbidden and Impure Substances

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner: The brother Yasin Abdulrahim Ahmad asks and says: Some people in their region prescribe a medicine, but it is impure, and some people used it and were cured, especially those who have warts on their faces. He asks for guidance if you would be so kind, Shaykh Abdulaziz?
The Shaykh: Prescribe what?
The presenter: He says: There are those who prescribe impure medicines, especially for those who have warts on their faces, and he asks for guidance?
The Shaykh: This is not permissible. Treating oneself with what is forbidden and with impurities is a reprehensible matter that is not permissible; because the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
so treat yourselves medically, but use nothing unlawfulعباد الله تداووا ولا تداووا بحرام
Sunan Abi Dawud 3874Da'if (Al-Albani)
And he said:
Allah did not make your cure in what He made Haram (unlawful) to you.إن الله لم يجعل شفاءكم فيما حرم عليكم
Bulugh al-Maram 10:50
And a man asked him about wine that he makes for medicine, so he said:
It is certainly not a treatment, rather, it is a disease.إنها ليست بدواء ولكنها داء
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 2046Sahih (Darussalam)
So it is not permissible for a Muslim man or woman to treat themselves with what is forbidden, neither from urine, nor from feces, nor from blood, nor from other impurities. Medicine is to be with what is permissible and pure. And whoever is afflicted with any of the diseases should ask the people of expertise among the doctors and specialists. And Allah (Exalted and Majestic is He) did not send down a disease except that He sent down for it a cure, as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said. So he should seek from the people of medicine who know his disease, until they give him the appropriate medicine. And he should not despair, nor do what angers Allah (Exalted and Majestic is He). But he should be patient and endure until Allah makes the cure easy for him. As for being lax with people and taking what people say of false dispensations that have no basis, this is not permissible. And the common people are not a model in these matters if they use bad, impure, and forbidden medicines. These people are not a model, and it is not permissible to follow them in that or to imitate them in that. And Allah is the One to be asked for help. Yes.
