Answer:
Yes, it is a recommended practice (sunnah) to thank a created being for his kindness. In the hadith, he (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Whoever is not grateful to the people, he is not grateful to Allah.من لا يشكر الناس لا يشكر الله

And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would thank people for their good deeds and encourage them—(peace and blessings be upon him). So if you thank someone because he helped you with your marriage, or helped you pay off a debt, and you thanked him by saying, “Thank you, may Allah reward you with good, may Allah multiply your reward,” this is among the noble qualities of character. It is among the noble qualities of character to thank the one who has been kind to you. Yes.
