First, we say: May Allah love you as you have loved us for His sake. It is authentically reported from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said:: My love is obligatory for those who love each other for My sake, who visit each other for My sake, who sit together for My sake, and who give to each other for My sake. It is also established from him (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said: Sahih Muslim 2566. We ask Allah to make us and our brothers who love each other for the sake of Allah among these people.
As for the qualities that should be in the imam, as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) explained:Jami` at-Tirmidhi 235Sahih (Darussalam). And in another wording: .
So you, my brother, must strive to increase in the Qur'an, take care of it, memorize what is easy for you, and gain understanding in the religion and learn; so that you know the rulings of your prayer, the rulings of the prostration for forgetfulness, and the like of what may occur for the imam, along with the fear of Allah and uprightness upon His religion, and caution against His disobedience.
If you strive in that, then you are qualified for the imamate. The most important thing is taking care of gaining understanding in the religion, taking care of the Noble Qur'an, and memorizing what is easy for you, along with uprightness in obedience to Allah and caution against His sins. Yes.

The one who recites most of the Book of Allah is to lead the people (in prayers). If they are equal in recitation, then the most knowledgeable in the Sunnah among them. If they are equal regarding the Sunnah, then the earliest of them to emigrate. If they are equal in their emigration then the eldest among them.
يؤم القوم أقرؤهم لكتاب الله، فإن كانوا في القراءة سواء؛ فأعلمهم بالسنة، فإن كانوا في السنة سواء؛ فأقدمهم هجرة، فإن كانوا في الهجرة سواء؛ فأكبرهم سنًاThen the one who embraced Islam earliest.
