The ruling on one who commits a prohibited act among the prohibitions of ihram

Question:
A message was sent from the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan by the listener (R. N. F), who says: Last Ramadan, I intended to perform the lesser pilgrimage ('Umrah), so I traveled by sea. When I boarded the ship, it broke down for eight days. Before the place from which people enter the state of ihram, I entered the state of ihram, and I was with two of my companions. Half an hour after entering the state of ihram, they said that the ship had broken down a second time, so we exited the state of ihram out of fear that it would become soiled, and we did not know anything about the validity or invalidity of that, because it was the first time I had performed 'Umrah. However, one of the brothers on the trip said that this is not valid and that we owe a fidyah (ransom payment), but I did not have money to buy a fidyah. Is it true that we owe a fidyah, or not? And if we owe a fidyah for each of us, where do we pay it and how? We ask for your guidance. May Allah reward you with good.
Answer:
The obligatory thing in such a case is patience, and that you remain in your state of ihram until you complete the 'Umrah. If you took off your ihram clothes, then put them back on when the ship moved, and you performed the 'Umrah, then you owe nothing; because your taking off the clothes and wearing sewn garments was due to ignorance; so you are excused if you performed the 'Umrah and did not abandon it.
As for if you did not perform the 'Umrah and continued in your state of exiting ihram, then you must enter the state of ihram and head to Makkah to perform the 'Umrah for which you had previously entered the state of ihram, and that is sufficient, and praise be to Allah, and you owe nothing due to ignorance, except if you had intercourse with your wives; then you owe a sheep; because intercourse invalidates the 'Umrah before the tawaf (circumambulation) and sa'y (walking between al-Safa and al-Marwah) invalidates the 'Umrah; so you owe a sheep to be slaughtered in Makkah for the poor, and you must complete the 'Umrah with tawaf, sa'y, and taqsir (shortening the hair), and you must perform another 'Umrah in place of the invalid 'Umrah; because intercourse invalidates the 'Umrah, so you complete the 'Umrah for which you entered the state of ihram, and pay the fidyah, and you owe another 'Umrah in place of that 'Umrah which you invalidated with intercourse.
As for wearing sewn garments and using perfume, which you did, there is nothing in it due to ignorance. You must consider what happened to you and ask the people of knowledge about your case. You are on the right path, if Allah wills, and repentance wipes out what came before it. It is not permissible for a servant to remain silent in ignorance. Rather, you have, praise be to Allah, scholars with you, the supporters of the Sunnah, and you have the Committee for Fatwa in al-Azhar, and you have the mufti (scholar who issues fatwas). You ask about what is difficult for you, and praise be to Allah. We have clarified for you some of what is obligatory. If something of that is hidden from you, then refer to the people of knowledge and insight in this matter that you have. We ask Allah for guidance and success for everyone. Yes.
