The Ruling on Reciting the Qur'an for the Deceased

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
If someone reads the Qur'an in the house and intends it for a deceased person, does the reward reach him or not? May Allah reward you with good.

Answer:
There is no evidence for this, which is reading the Qur'an on behalf of the dead. The stronger position is that it is not recommended and it is not prescribed. One should read, seeking the reward for oneself, and make du'a' for whom he loves among his relatives and others. As for reading with the intention for so-and-so, there is no evidence for that, and the most apparent in the scriptural evidence is that it is not permissible. Even if some scholars have permitted it, what we see in this matter is not reading for people and assigning the reward to them. Rather, one should read hoping for the reward of Allah for himself, and make du'a' for whom he loves among his Muslim brothers. Yes.
