The ruling on performing wudu with water that is not fit for drinking

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
He says: I live in one of the villages, and the water used for washing and wudu is not fit for drinking; in fact, we buy our drinking water. Is it permissible to perform wudu with that water which is not fit for drinking?

Answer:
Any water that is permissible for wudu and ghusl is fit for drinking. What is the obstacle if it is pure? If it is a purifier, fit for washing and wudu from rainwater, or river water, or spring water, or well water, then just as it is fit for wudu and ghusl, there is no obstacle to drinking it, except if it is salty water, like seawater, or if it has bitterness. In this case, if a person can, he should put in something to sweeten and improve it, and drink from it, praise be to Allah. And if he cannot; there is no harm.
The point is: if it is fit for wudu and ghusl, it is permissible for drinking. If it has a defect of bitterness or salinity that can be adjusted with some kind of sweetener, yes.

The presenter: Or some insects, for example?

The Shaykh: If the insects do not make it impure, they do not harm it, yes.

The presenter: But it might harm a person if he drinks it?

The Shaykh: If it harms him, he should leave it; because the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered to kill the fly if it falls into the drink, to dip it and drink; there is no harm, yes.

The presenter: Some stagnant waters have many worms, O Shaykh?

The Shaykh: The point is, if the water harms him, he does not drink from it. But if it does not harm him, but has bitterness or salinity; he adjusts it and drinks, praise be to Allah.

The presenter : May Allah reward you with good, and may He do you good.
