How to Dispose of a Trust After Its Owner Has Betrayed It

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
He says: If I took a sum of money from a person, or if a person gave me something as a trust, and at that time I denied it, and now I have repented and feel regret, how do you advise me? May Allah reward you with good.

Answer:
If the money was a gift to you, or assistance, then there is nothing wrong with it, provided you know that it is lawful, or you know nothing about it. However, if the money you took from him was taken by force, or if there is another doubt regarding it, meaning you know that it is forbidden because it is riba (usury or interest), or the like, then return it to him.

The Shaykh : Repeat your question, repeat your question.

Question : Our brother asks and says: If I took a sum of money from a specific person, or if he gave me a trust, and I denied it, how should I act now? For I feel the impact and I feel regret.

Answer : If you took the money from him by force, or by theft, then it is obligatory to return it to him, to return the money to him, and so on... You must repent to Allah, and return to him the money you took. If you do not know him, or you have forgotten him, then give it in charity on his behalf, if you are unable to deliver it to him; give it in charity with the intention of it being on his behalf; because you wronged him, you took the money from him without right, or you denied his deposit.

The presenter : O Allah, amen. May Allah reward you with good, and may He do you good.
