The amount given to the poor from zakah

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
How is zakah distributed to the poor? Is he given enough to make him wealthy, or is it distributed among more than one poor person if the zakah-eligible wealth yields a large amount?

Answer:
It is obligatory to give the poor person what covers his need for his entire year, his whole year. If the poor person has what suffices him for half the year, he is given what suffices him for the rest of the year. If the one who pays zakah does not know his situation, but knows that he is poor, he gives him what is available from the zakah, and that is sufficient. However, if he knows his situation and has a large amount of zakah such that he can give him what covers his need for the year, he gives him what covers his need for the year. It is forbidden for the poor person to ask after that; he is content with what he was given. It is forbidden for him to ask for zakah after that while he has what suffices him from the zakah that reached him. Yes.
