The ruling on informing a person of the backbiting committed about them in order to seek their forgiveness

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
He says: Is it obligatory for me, if I repent to Allah and I have backbitten many people, is it obligatory for me to inform them and seek their forgiveness for that, or is it not obligatory?

Answer:
Repentance is sufficient, repentance is sufficient, and remember them with the good that you know of them, remember them with the good that you know of them in the gatherings where you mentioned them with evil. But if it is easy to seek their forgiveness in a way that involves no danger and no harm, that is safer. If it is easy for you to say to so-and-so: "I spoke about your honor, so forgive me," that is good. You are commanded to rid yourself of injustice in blood, wealth, and honor. But the common outcome is that if you say that to someone, he becomes angry and upset, and perhaps he will not forgive you. So repenting from that and remembering them with the good you know of them in the gatherings where you mentioned them with evil is sufficient, if Allah wills. But if it is easy for you to seek his forgiveness as long as you know his state, and you know that if you seek his forgiveness he will forgive you, and there is no evil in that, then that is good. If you think that he will forgive you if you seek his forgiveness, and that no evil will result from it, then that is a matter of caution. That is good. Yes.

The presenter : May Allah reward you with good, and may He do you good.
