The ruling on leaving the congregational prayer out of fear of being accused of showing off

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
A message was sent from the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan by one of the listening brothers, who indicated his name with the initials (K. A. Sh). In one of his questions, he says: What is the ruling on praying at home without an excuse, except for the fear that it will be said that he went to the mosque so that people would know that he prays?

Answer:
It is obligatory for the Muslim to pray in the mosque with his Muslim brothers, in obedience to the saying of the Exalted:
And establish prayer and give zakah and bow with those who bow [in worship and obedience].وَأَقِيمُوا الصَّلاةَ وَآتُوا الزَّكَاةَ وَارْكَعُوا مَعَ الرَّاكِعِينَ
[al-Baqarah: 43] and His saying: :
[Such niches are] in mosques which Allah has ordered to be raised and that His name be mentioned therein; exalting Him within them in the morning and the eveningsفِي بُيُوتٍ أَذِنَ اللَّهُ أَنْ تُرْفَعَ وَيُذْكَرَ فِيهَا اسْمُهُ يُسَبِّحُ لَهُ فِيهَا بِالْغُدُوِّ وَالآصَالِ ۝
[An-Nur 24:36]
Men whom neither commerce nor sale diverts from the remembrance of Allah and the establishment of prayer and the giving of zakah [al-Nur: 36-37] and to the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
Whoever hears the call and does not come, there is no prayer for him except from an excuse. It was said to Ibn Abbas: What is the excuse? He said: Sickness, or fear.من سمع النداء فلم يأت؛ فلا صلاة له إلا من عذر، قيل لابن عباس: ما هو العذر؟ قال: مرض، أو خوف
.
And the fact that a person fears that it will be said that he went to pray so that it will be said that he prays, this is not an excuse. And praise be to Allah, if they praise him for praying, this is better for him, and it does not harm him; rather, it is a virtue for him that he prays with the Muslims and has noble character. So he should not let that prevent him from going to the mosque, even if some people accuse him of showing off; it does not harm him. Their sin is upon them. He must be sincere in his intention for Allah, and he must go to the mosques in obedience to Allah and His Messenger. It does not harm him what people say, that he is a show-off, or that he intended such and such; it does not harm him. He must deal with his Lord with sincerity, and he must follow His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him). It does not harm him what people say of his accusation of showing off or otherwise after that. It is established from him (peace and blessings be upon him) that a blind man asked him, saying: O Messenger of Allah! I have no guide to lead me to the mosque, so do I have a dispensation to pray in my house? He said to him—(peace and blessings be upon him):
Do you hear the call to prayer?هل تسمع النداء بالصلاة؟
Sahih Muslim 653
He said: Yes. He said:
Then respond.فأجب
.
So the blind man has no guide to lead him to the mosque, and yet he is told: Answer the call. So how much more so is the case of the seeing, able person?! His obligation is greater. So fear Allah, and maintain the prayer in congregation, and do not mind what people say. May Allah guide you to the truth, and us, and the Muslims. Yes.

The presenter : O Allah, amen. May Allah reward you with good.
