The Ruling on Praying at Home Without an Excuse

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
A man who is sixty years old does not pray the five daily prayers except in his home, with the exception of Jumu'ah, which he prays in the mosque. Will his prayer be accepted? The mosque is next to his house.

Answer:
This man has committed a great evil and contradicted the Shari'ah, for the Shari'ah obligates him to attend the congregation in the mosques, the congregation of the Muslims. However, the prayer is valid according to the most correct of the scholars' opinions; the prayer is valid and he does not have to repeat it. But he must repent to Allah; he must repent to Allah for his delay in going to the mosque and the congregation. Praying at home without an excuse is not permissible. So he should fear Allah and pray with the people, and repent to Allah for what has passed.
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Whoever hears the call for prayer and and does not come (to the mosque for prayer), his prayer will not be accepted from him, unless he has a (legitimate) excuse.من سمع النداء فلم يأت؛ فلا صلاة له إلا من عذر
Bulugh al-Maram 2:308
, , It was asked of Ibn 'Abbas: What is the excuse? He said: "Fear or illness." And a blind man asked him (peace and blessings be upon him), saying: O Messenger of Allah! I have no guide to lead me to the mosque; do I have a dispensation to pray in my house? He said (peace and blessings be upon him):
Do you hear the call to prayer?هل تسمع النداء بالصلاة
Sahih Muslim 653
? He said: Yes. He said:
Then respond.فأجب
, So this is a blind man who has no guide, and yet the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) says to him:
Answer, there is no dispensation for youأجب ليس لك رخصة
.
So it is obligatory for the believer who is able to attend the mosque to attend the mosque and pray with the people, and he has no right to stay behind and pray in his house. Yes.

The presenter: May Allah reward you with good and do you good.
