What benefits the deceased from deeds

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
From the two brothers, Abdul Jalil Abbas and Muhammad Ali, a message containing a collection of questions. In one of them, they ask: What is the deed that benefits the deceased? May Allah reward you with good.

Answer:
The deeds that benefit the deceased are numerous. Among them is supplicating for the deceased for forgiveness, mercy, and safety from the Fire, and for the multiplication of good deeds. Supplication for deceased Muslims is among the most important acts of drawing near to Allah and obedience. Allah (Exalted and Majestic is He) prescribed the funeral prayer because of the supplication for the deceased and the seeking of mercy for him in it. Among them is charity on behalf of the deceased, where a relative or a brother in Allah gives charity on his behalf. This benefits the deceased with money, food, clothing, or other types of wealth. Charity benefits the deceased by the consensus of the Muslims and by the explicit text from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). Similarly, performing Hajj on his behalf, performing 'Umrah on his behalf, and paying off his debt, all of this benefits him. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
When a man dies, his deeds come to an end except for three things: Sadaqah Jariyah (ceaseless charity); a knowledge which is beneficial, or a virtuous descendant who prays for him (for the deceased).إذا مات ابن آدم؛ انقطع عمله إلا من ثلاث: صدقة جارية، أو علم ينتفع به، أو ولد صالح يدعو له
Riyad as-Salihin 1383
.
So my advice to all my Muslim brothers is to supplicate for our Muslim brothers, and to supplicate for their relatives and their Muslim parents. Supplicate for them, seek mercy for them, and give charity on their behalf. All of this benefits them greatly. Yes.

The presenter : May Allah reward you with good, and may He do you good.
