The number required for the Friday prayer

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
Yahya from Yemen says: I live in a small village, and there is a mosque in this village. The population of the village is about twenty men, in addition to the children. We have a market, and its day is Friday. On this day, we are forced to go to the market to buy some necessities, so only ten people remain in the village, most of whom are young. Is it obligatory for this number to perform the Friday prayer, knowing that it is difficult for us to leave the market, as it is the means by which we buy our necessities and sell what we have?

Answer:
If there are three accountable, settled residents among the ten, then the Friday prayer is performed with them, and praise be to Allah, and the rest follow them. However, if they are all young, with no three among them, all young, or if there is only one adult, or two, they perform the Zuhr prayer. But if there are three or more accountable, adult, free, settled residents among them, then they perform the Friday prayer, and the rest of the young ones follow them in that. Yes.

The presenter : May Allah reward you with good, and may He do you good, O Shaykh! Do you advise them to change the market day from Friday to another day?

The Shaykh : That is appropriate, if it is feasible; it is better, in order to combine the two benefits. They can devote themselves to this market, and they can all perform the Friday prayer completely. So, if it is feasible to move the market from Friday to Thursday, or Saturday, that is more cautious. Yes.

The presenter : May Allah bless you and reward you.
