The number required for the Friday prayer

The questioner: Your Eminence, a questioner says: We are in a place four kilometers away from the mosque, and we do not hear the adhan, even though there is a khatib living with us. What is the minimum number of worshippers required to complete the Friday prayer?

Praise be to Allah, and may Allah send prayers and peace upon the Messenger of Allah, and upon his family and his Companions, and upon those who follow his guidance. As for what follows:
The scholars have differed regarding the number required to establish the Friday prayer, with several opinions. The strongest and most correct of these is that three are sufficient, and that the Friday prayer is established with them and becomes obligatory for them if they are settled residents and free men. So if you are three, ten, or more, establish the Friday prayer because of your distance from the mosques where Friday prayer is held.
The point is: that the Friday prayer is established with three or more if they are settled in the locality, or if they are free men, not slaves, for the Friday prayer is established with them. This is the safest of what has been said regarding this matter, because of the great good in establishing the Friday prayer, the great good in it, the sermons, and the reminders. Yes.
