The number required for the Friday prayer

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
You mentioned last Friday: that the Friday prayer is established with the presence of three or more, and in the book of jurisprudence for the elementary stage, it states: “The condition for the validity of the Friday prayer is the presence of forty obligated persons from the people of the town.” How do we reconcile these two matters, since we asked some of the students who attended about this, and we found ourselves in difficulty due to its importance? We request clarification on this topic?

Answer:
The condition of forty is the opinion of a group of scholars, and it is the Hanbali school. What is studied in the schools is the Hanbali school, which is known to many scholars. However, the stronger opinion is that forty are not required, and there is no evidence for it. The condition of forty is based on a weak hadith.
So if the village gathers, ten residents, twenty residents, five residents settled in the village; it is prescribed for them to pray the Friday prayer, just as they pray the congregational prayer, and forty are not required according to the most correct opinion of the scholars.
There is much disagreement among the scholars on this issue, but this is the most correct of their opinions; because there is no evidence specifying a number greater than three. The three are the congregation, by whom the imam and the followers are achieved: an imam and two followers. This is the minimum number in which there is a congregation and the performance of the Friday prayer.

Question: Meaning, the Friday prayer becomes obligatory upon them?

Answer: Yes.
