Ruling on the follower standing up to make up the prayer before the imam has completed the taslim

Question:
May Allah reward you with good, and may He do you good. He says: If a man arrives during the prayer, having missed part of it, and after the imam has said the taslim to conclude the prayer; the latecomer stands up to complete the remainder that is due on him, but he stood up hastily, before the imam finished the second taslim, in fact he stood up after the first taslim. This happens repeatedly with some people—may Allah guide them—so what is the ruling in that?
Answer:
If he stands up to make up the prayer before the second taslim, he has made a mistake; because the correct view is that the second taslim is necessary. The majority of scholars held that the first taslim is sufficient, but the authentic hadiths indicate that the second taslim is necessary. So if he stands up before the imam has said the second taslim, he has left behind an obligatory matter, which is sitting until his imam says the taslim. So what he should do, in order to make up the prayer, is to repeat the prayer; in order to avoid the difference of opinion and to be cautious with his religion.
The presenter : May Allah bless you. Is it considered that he left the perfection of one of the pillars?
The Shaykh : He left an obligation upon him, which is sitting until his imam says the taslim. He stood up before his imam had said the taslim from his prayer.
The presenter : May Allah bless you. And if one leaves an obligation, what is the ruling, O Shaykh?
The Shaykh : Doing it intentionally invalidates the prayer, but this person was ignorant, or forgot, so perhaps he will be excused. But the most cautious course for him is to repeat the prayer, in order to avoid the difference of opinion.
The presenter : Does he repeat the entire prayer?
The Shaykh : Yes, because this is only done after a long interval has passed. In any case, he repeats it; because when he stood up, his prayer became invalid. When he stood up—most likely—his prayer became invalid; because he stood up before the imam completed the prayer. The one who joins the prayer late is not allowed to stand up until his imam says the taslim, just as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did when 'Abd al-Rahman ibn 'Awf said the taslim after praying with him in the expedition of Tabuk. When 'Abd al-Rahman said the taslim, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) stood up to make up [his prayer]. So making up the prayer is done after the imam's taslim. This is a matter of caution. Yes.
