The ruling on one whose shyness prevents him from advising
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
She says about herself and her father: My father always leaves the 'Isha' prayer, and often leaves the 'Asr prayer as well. I am too shy to tell him about this. Is there a sin on me?
Answer: Yes; it is obligatory for you to alert him and forbid him from the evil with kind words and gentleness, due to the saying of Allah the Exalted: [Surat al-Tawbah: 71] and His saying the Exalted: [Surat Aal 'Imran: 110] and His saying the Exalted: [Surat Aal 'Imran: 104]. These great verses all indicate the obligation of forbidding evil from a child to his father, a father to his child, a brother to his brother, and a Muslim to his brother. This is general; it is obligatory for everyone to cooperate in righteousness and piety and to enjoin good and forbid evil. However, a child with his father should do so with gentleness, kind words, and a desire for the father to be affected by the advice. There is no harm also in seeking the help of some relatives and friends whom the one who leaves prayer respects, so that they may advise him, guide him, and help him against his own self and his Shaytan. Likewise, every one who enjoins good and forbids evil should seek the appropriate method, even if he is not a child; he should seek the appropriate method by which he hopes Allah will make it beneficial. Severity is in its place, and gentleness is in its place. The good method is what is required. And if the one who leaves prayer is stubborn, the severe method should be used with him if the one who enjoins good and forbids evil has authority and power over him. He should use the severe method and punishment as well, if he is able to punish, until he straightens out. And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said in the authentic hadith: Sahih Muslim 49a This is general and includes the child, the father, the brother, the maternal uncle, the paternal uncle, and others.
So it is obligatory for the child to care for his father and advise him regarding prayer and other matters, seeking the kind and effective method by which he hopes his father will benefit from it. He should not be arrogant toward him, nor should he turn away from the truth. Allah will help him if he is sincere and pure in his intention for Allah. Allah will help him with his father, and He will help the woman with her father. Every male and female must strive in this path with the father, the brother, the maternal uncle, the paternal uncle, and so on, with the friend, the neighbor, and the like. And success is from Allah. Yes.

Answer: Yes; it is obligatory for you to alert him and forbid him from the evil with kind words and gentleness, due to the saying of Allah the Exalted:
The believing men and believing women are allies of one another. They enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong
You are the best nation produced [as an example] for mankind. You enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong and believe in Allah.
And let there be [arising] from you a nation inviting to [all that is] good, enjoining what is right and forbidding what is wrong, and those will be the successful.
He who amongst you sees something abominable should modify it with the help of his hand; and if he has not strength enough to do it, then he should do it with his tongue, and if he has not strength enough to do it, (even) then he should (abhor it) from his heart
