The ruling on placing a mushaf near a child or hanging it on his bed
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The listener Muhammad ibn Muhammad Sahl sent a question, saying: Is it permissible to place a mushaf near a child or hang it on the bed? May Allah reward you with good.
Answer: This has no basis. If the intention is that it serves as a protection for him, this has no basis. Also, placing it near him may lead him to mess with it and treat it with disrespect because he is a child. Therefore, it is not permissible to place it near him if he treats it with disrespect or plays with it. It should not be placed near him if the intention is that it serves as a protection for him from shayatin or jinn. All of this has no basis. Rather, his family should recite over him and seek refuge for him in the words of Allah, the perfect words, from the evil of what He has created. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to seek refuge for al-Hasan and al-Husayn at night when they were going to sleep, saying:Sunan Abi Dawud 4737Sahih (Al-Albani). So his father or mother says to him when he is going to sleep: “I seek refuge for you in the perfect words of Allah from the evil of what He has created,” and “I seek refuge for you in the perfect words of Allah from every shaytan and every wasp and every envious eye.” As for placing the mushaf at his head or near his bed so that it serves as a protection for him, or writing papers to be hung on him, all of this is not permissible. And Allah is the One to be asked for help. Yes.
