Shuqara’s remarks on reviving the Sunnah of performing the ‘Aqiqah sacrifice for oneself when it was not performed for one in childhood

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Shuqara: Our Shaykh, first of all, may Allah reward you with good, our Shaykh, and may Allah bless you for this pleasant and blessed session, in which we have perhaps met our brothers here in this neighborhood for the first time, in the home of one of our brothers and sons, our brother Samir Murad. We were invited, or he invited us, to a Sunnah that he has revived, which—praise be to Allah—has become widespread among our brothers when they learned that it is from the Sunnah for a person to sacrifice or perform the ritual slaughter for himself if it was not done for him previously. He has sacrificed for himself and revived and extended the life of this Sunnah, praise be to Allah, and around him are other brothers whom we hope will follow his example with this pleasant and blessed Sunnah.

The Shaykh : May Allah reward him with good.
Shuqara: And may Allah reward you with good, him and our brothers who also helped and assisted him in this pleasant meeting, and may Allah reward you all with good. Now, the brothers are free to disperse, and those who wish to wait can do so outside the house, and the Shaykh will remain for only three minutes... And may Allah send prayers and peace and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and his Companions, and peace be upon them. Glory be to You, O Allah, and praise be to You. I bear witness that there is no god but You. I seek Your forgiveness and I repent to You.
