Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The first message in this episode is one that reached the program from Baghdad, sent by a listener who indicated his name by the letters (M. D. H.). In one of his questions, he says: I am an elderly man and I have pain in my spinal vertebrae, and sometimes I perform the prayer while sitting. Please inform me of the ruling on that? May Allah reward you with good.
Answer: In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, and may Allah send blessings and peace upon the Messenger of Allah, upon his family and his Companions, and upon those who follow his guidance.
As for what follows: Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He, says in His great Book: [Al-Taghabun:16]. So if you are unable to pray while standing, there is no blame on you. Because of the back illness, there is no blame on you if it involves great hardship; pray sitting. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to 'Umar ibn al-Khattab when he complained of illness, he (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him: Sunan Abi Dawud 952Sahih (Al-Albani), and Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He, says: [Al-Baqarah:286]. And praise be to Allah. Yes.
The presenter: May Allah reward you with good.
