The ruling on praying on behalf of one who is unable

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
He also has another question, saying: I inform you that my mother is unable to pray at times. Should I pray on her behalf or not?

Answer:
No one prays on behalf of another in prayer; no one prays on behalf of another in prayer. If she is unable to pray standing, she prays sitting; if her mind is with her, and if she is unable to sit, she prays on her side; if she is unable to pray on her side, she prays lying on her back with her feet toward the qiblah. This is what is obligatory for her
So fear Allah as much as you are ableفَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ مَا اسْتَطَعْتُمْ
[al-Taghabun:16].
As for if she is unable in the sense that her mind has changed, she has become senile, meaning: she has become senile, and she is old and does not comprehend; then there is no prayer required of her, and you do not pray on her behalf. Likewise, if she is insane or has a mental disorder, there is no prayer required of her.
As for the sane person, prayer is required of him according to his condition. The sane, accountable person must pray according to his condition: standing, or sitting, or on his side, or lying down. This is how the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) commanded
So fear Allah as much as you are ableفَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ مَا اسْتَطَعْتُمْ
[al-Taghabun:16]. Yes.
