Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
A questioner from Syria for the program says: I am a worker in Saudi Arabia. My question is: I have an uncle who is unable to perform Hajj. Do I have the right to perform Hajj on his behalf? He is unable to walk, and he has appointed me to perform Hajj on his behalf. Is that permissible?
Answer:
If he is unable, there is no harm. A woman came and said: “O Messenger of Allah! My father is an old man who cannot stay on the mount. Should I perform Hajj on his behalf?” He said:
Perform Hajj on behalf of your father.حجي عن أبيك
. And a man came to him and said: “O Messenger of Allah! My father is an old man who cannot perform Hajj or travel. Should I perform Hajj and 'Umrah on his behalf?” He said:
Perform Hajj on behalf of your father and perform Umrah.حج عن أبيك واعتمر
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 930Sahih (Darussalam)
.
So if your uncle is unable to perform Hajj due to old age or an illness that is not expected to end, you may perform Hajj on his behalf, and you will be rewarded. Yes.
