Question:
After this, a message was received for the program "From the Stone" in al-Ahsa, the Eastern Region. A message came from one of the listening brothers, saying: Your brother (N. A. Ibrahim . A. A.) presented a case in which he says: I am a young man, and a doubt regarding a vow occurred to me years ago, and I am hesitating between two things, between doubt and certainty: did I intend the vow, or did I not intend it? But in the majority of my thinking, it seems to me that I intended the vow. This is one part. The other part is that I am in doubt about the number of the vow, whether it is one sheep or two, and I have purchased both, and I am awaiting your generous response regarding this matter. May Allah reward you with good.
Answer:
If it is most likely in your opinion that you vowed a sheep, or two sheep, to Allah the Exalted, if Allah cured you or healed you from an illness, or if He healed so-and-so, or if Allah succeeded you in a matter, or if your child succeeded, then fulfill your vow and clear your obligation so that you may be at ease and tranquility. However, you are not obligated except by certainty; you are not obligated by a vow except by certainty, due to the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):Sunan Ibn Majah 2126Sahih (Darussalam), and Allah praised the believers who fulfill their vows, saying the Exalted: [al-Insan:7].
So if you are certain, it is obligatory for you to fulfill it for the sake of obedience, as if you say: It is upon me for Allah, if Allah heals me from such-and-such, that I slaughter a sheep, or two sheep, or give such-and-such in charity, or if Allah heals my son, or my wife, or my brother, or if Allah succeeds me in such-and-such, or my son succeeds in such-and-such, I will slaughter such-and-such, or give such-and-such in charity, or fast such-and-such; fulfill your vow. This is if you are certain.
As for if you are in doubt, you are not obligated, but if you fulfill it, it is for the safety of your conscience, as a precaution, and out of eagerness for good, then this is better, more beautiful, and superior. Yes.
The presenter : May Allah reward you with good.
