The Meaning of the Hadith: (Two blessings in which many people are defrauded)

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The listener: Mostawr Hamid Abdullah al-Sawat sent a question and said: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Two favors that many of the people squander are health and free time.نعمتان مغبون فيهما كثير من الناس: الصحة، والفراغ
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 2304Sahih (Darussalam)
Please explain this hadith to us. May Allah reward you with good?
Answer: This hadith is valid and a reality. Many people are defrauded in their health and their free time. The meaning is that one does not spend one's health in obedience to Allah, nor in what benefits one in this world and the Hereafter, and one does not spend one's free time in what benefits one. Rather, one's free time and health are wasted in trivial matters, or in sleep and the like. One has no work in one's health that pleases one's Lord or benefits the community, nor in one's free time. Rather, one's health is wasted and one's free time is wasted.
It is obligatory for the believer to take care of this great blessing, by spending one's health in obedience to Allah, performing what Allah has made obligatory, and leaving what Allah has forbidden. One should strive for every good, such as glorification, declaring the greatness of Allah, praise, and saying Allahu Akbar, visiting the sick, helping in good, enjoining good and forbidding evil, maintaining family ties, and visiting the brothers in Allah, among other forms of good. Likewise, one's free time in the hours when one is idle should be spent in prayer, remembrance, reading the Qur'an, and seeking knowledge. One should not let an opportunity for free time be wasted. This is the believer, and this is the one with insight, who preserves his times, preserves his free time, and preserves his health with what benefits him in this world and the Hereafter. And Allah is the One to be sought for help. Yes.
The presenter: Allah is the One to be sought for help, may Allah reward you with good.
The Shaykh: And Allah is the One to be sought for help.
