Question:
We move on to another topic and another question from our brothers in Sudan, which is a request for the interpretation of a verse from Surat al-Nur, which is the saying of the Truth, (Blessed and Exalted is He): I seek refuge in Allah from the accursed Shaytan: [al-Nur:32]?
Answer:
In its apparent meaning, the Lord, (Exalted and Majestic is He), commands His servants to marry the unmarried women, who are those who have no husbands, and likewise the righteous among their male and female slaves, to marry them so that the believing man and the believing woman do not remain idle; because being single carries a great danger. It is necessary to marry men and women; one should marry the unmarried women, and marry the righteous among the male and female slaves. One should marry the unmarried women to suitable partners if they seek marriage, and not leave the male and female slaves idle; a man marries his slave, and a woman marries her slave, so that fornication does not occur and no disaster befalls them. Yes, and if a man takes a concubine from his slave woman, making her his concubine and chaste, there is no harm if she is his property, or he marries her so that she does not remain idle. Likewise, he marries his male slave and does not leave him idle; because he is like a free person who needs what makes him chaste, and she needs what makes her chaste. [al-Nur:32].
And the one who is married, if he has the capacity, he marries; Allah will enrich him in terms of maintenance. He should not remain idle as long as he has the capacity to marry. He marries, then he engages in the means that help him with maintenance in the future.
As for the one who is unable and has no capacity, like what Allah said afterwards: [al-Nur:33], the one who does not find, meaning the dowry, meaning he should be chaste until Allah enriches him from His bounty. And this is the meaning of His saying, the Exalted: [al-Nur:33], meaning they do not find the dowry, meaning the dowries of women, so he should be chaste and be patient until Allah enriches him, so he finds the dowry that he presents to the woman. And whoever has the capacity, he marries, then he does the things that help him with maintenance, as in the previous verses: [al-Nur:32], if they are able to marry, they should marry, and Allah will enrich them afterwards, meaning in what helps them with maintenance. Yes.
The presenter : May Allah reward you with good.
The Shaykh: And it is also possible that [al-Nur: 32] means the species of Adam, meaning all of them are slaves, and all of them are maidservants to Allah. For this reason He said: [al-Nur:32], so this implies that the intended meaning is the free people. They were called servants and maidservants; they are the servants of Allah and the maidservants of Allah. And they were called your servants and your maidservants, meaning those who exist with you, among you, from sons, brothers, and the like. So the verse includes both this and that...
So the master marries his slave woman whom he does not take as a concubine, and marries his male slave who is owned, and does not neglect them. And he also marries his sons and daughters, for they are servants of Allah. So the attribution "your servants and your maidservants" means: His servants who are of your kind, and your maidservants, meaning: among you, meaning: all of them are maidservants to Allah, and all of them are servants to Allah. And they were attributed to the Muslims and the addressed ones; because they are some of them, and a part of them. So they are their servants and their maidservants, meaning: those who exist among you, males and females. So they are the slaves of Allah and the maidservants of Allah. It is necessary that you strive to marry them, whether they are sons, brothers, friends, or others.
So the Muslim is the brother of the Muslim; he helps him in marriage, and helps him in making his private parts chaste, and helps his sister in Allah in making her private parts chaste. This is from the category of cooperation in righteousness and piety, and from the category of [al-Ma'idah:2]. So they were commanded to marry the servants and the maidservants, meaning: the servants of Allah and the maidservants of Allah; because they are their brothers in Allah, or their sons, or their brothers by blood, or their uncles, or their nephews. So they were guided to marry them and help them; because they are brothers among them, even if they are not his sons, or his brothers. So Islam unites them, and the religion unites them, so they are brothers in Allah. For this reason they were commanded to cooperate in righteousness and piety. He said: [al-Ma'idah:2], Sahih al-Bukhari 6951 the hadith. And he said, (peace and blessings be upon him): Sahih al-Bukhari 6951 agreed upon. And he said, (peace and blessings be upon him): Jami` at-Tirmidhi 1425Sahih (Darussalam).
So helping men and women in the marriage of their brothers in Allah is a good thing, and is from cooperation in good, and from assistance in good. And every Muslim is commanded with this; commanded to help in good, to help his brother in marriage, to help his sister in Allah in marriage, so that no one remains single, neither men nor women. And through this, the great good for the Muslims is achieved, and reproduction, and the increase of the Ummah, and the chastity of private parts, and the lowering of the gaze. All of this is achieved through this cooperation. This is if we take the verse to mean the species of servants, the species of maidservants, even if they are not slaves; because they are the slaves of Allah, and they are our brothers.
So it is obligatory upon the Muslims to cooperate among themselves in marrying men and women, the unmarried: those who have no husbands, whether they are previously married or virgins, and the species of servants, and the species of women in terms of generality in marrying them, and caring for the chastity of their private parts, and the lowering of their gazes, through cooperation among the Muslims. This one gives a quarter of the dowry, and this one half of the dowry, and this one a part of the dowry, so that people marry and do not remain idle. Yes, and Allah is the Helper. Yes.
The presenter : Allah is the One to be sought for help. May Allah reward you with good.

من كان في حاجة أخيه كان الله في حاجتهAnd Allah is engaged in helping the worshipper as long as the worshipper is engaged in helping his brother.
