Is Intention Required for Leading the Prayer, and the Ruling on Following One Who Joined Late

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
This questioner, who indicated his name as (A. A. A.) from the Eastern Region, says: Is the intention to lead required for the imam in prayer?

Answer:
Yes, the intention to lead is necessary.

The presenter: Yes. And if a man enters and finds a man praying, should he follow him? And is it prescribed to follow one who joined late?

The Shaykh: There is no harm in that, there is no harm in that. And if he prays alone, there is nothing wrong with it. And if he follows one who joined late and makes him his imam so that he obtains the virtue of congregation, then that is good.

The presenter : May Allah reward you with good.
