The Ruling on Following a Latecomer in Prayer

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
What is the ruling on following a masbuq (one who joins the prayer late) in prayer?

Meaning: Following a masbuq in the case of making up what he missed,The scholars said: there is nothing wrong with it; this ma'mum (one praying behind the imam) transitions from following to leading,But despite this, we do not advise doing so: First: because it is not reported from the Companions that a person, when making up what he missed with the imam, prays it as a congregation.

Second: some scholars have said that this is not valid.

One should avoid this as a precaution, in accordance with the saying of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him): "Leave that which makes you doubt for that which does not make you doubt" and his saying: "Whoever avoids doubtful matters has protected his religion and his honor" Therefore, it should not be done, even if it is said to be permissible.
