How to Raise Young Children Who Play During Prayer

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
The first message in this episode is from Khamis Mushait. The sender, a listener, says: "Your brother in Allah, Ali al-Qahtani. Brother Ali has an issue. He says: I have brothers, praise be to Allah, who are educated, but when it is time for prayer, they do not care about it. They pray while playing with the prayer. When I finish my prayer, I order them to repeat it, but they refuse and run away. When I hit them for this, the mother gets angry. How can I get rid of this problem? The youngest is ten years old, and the oldest is fifteen."

Answer:
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon the Messenger of Allah, and upon his family and his Companions, and upon those who follow his guidance. As for what follows:
What is obligatory for you is what you did, which is disciplining them and taking charge of them; because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Order your children to pray at seven, and beat them for it at tenمروا أبناءكم بالصلاة لسبع، واضربوهم عليها لعشر
Sunan ad-Daraqutni 3:5
If the father is not present, you are in the place of the father, even if the father is present.
It is obligatory for him to carry out this duty, and the mother should help in this and not get angry. She should help in this, assist you in this matter, speak to them, and warn them against it, so that she is with you in this matter; because Allah (Mighty and Majestic) says:
cooperate in righteousness and pietyوَتَعَاوَنُوا عَلَى الْبِرِّ وَالتَّقْوَى
[Al-Ma'idah: 2] So cooperation between you and the mother in righteousness and piety is necessary. You must explain the matter to her with good words and a good manner, and that this is an obligatory thing, so that she knows the truth and responds to the truth, if Allah wills.

The presenter : May Allah reward you with good, and may He do you good, O Shaykh! Do you advise him to take them to the mosque so that they also learn the etiquettes of the worshippers?

The Shaykh : If it is possible to take them, that is good. Otherwise, it is obligatory to take them to the mosque, whether with him, or before him, or after him. They must attend the congregational prayer. They pray with the people in the mosques, even if by hitting them, or even by referring them to the religious authority if the need arises for the authority to help, so that they assist him in this; because this is a necessary matter. As for praying at home, no, they do not pray at home. Rather, they must pray with the people, and he must take charge of them as much as he can, by hitting, reprimanding, and other means. Yes.

The presenter : May Allah reward you with good. What about someone who has sons, but they do not care about prayer in the mosques, and he has struggled with his sons and the situation is as described? Do you also advise him to consult the competent authorities?

The Shaykh : As mentioned before, as mentioned before. If he is unable to manage it, he refers the matter to the religious authority. The religious authority will help him in that.

The presenter : May Allah bless you, may Allah reward you with good.

The Shaykh : We ask Allah for safety.

The presenter : May Allah accept it.
