Expiation of a servant's sins through the trials he encounters
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
I ask your Eminence about trials. If Allah tests a servant with illness, does this illness expiate his sins? Is there a tree in Paradise called the Tree of Trials, under which only those who are tested sit? What is the authenticity of this statement? May Allah reward you with good.
Answer:
The illnesses, worries, or harm from people that a person is tested with are expiated by Allah from his mistakes and sins, as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: This is from the mercy, favor, and kindness of Allah that these calamities expiate the servant's sins. He (peace and blessings be upon him) also said: Muwatta Malik 50:7 meaning: He tests him. And he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Sunan Ibn Majah 4031Hasan (Darussalam).
So, O servant of Allah! You must be patient and seek reward when you are struck by a trial, by not losing your temper with bad words, or slapping a cheek, or scratching a face, or tearing a garment. Rather, you should seek reward from Allah, praise Him, and extol Him , and say nothing but good. Yes.
The presenter : May Allah reward you with good. What about the statement that there is a tree in Paradise called the Tree of the Tested?
The Shaykh: I do not know of any basis for this. I do not know of any basis for this, and I do not know of any hadith about this tree.
The presenter : May Allah reward you with good. So, there is no tree in Paradise called the Tree of Trials.
Answer : I do not know of it. I do not know of it.
The presenter : May Allah bless you.

Whatever befalls a Muslim of worry, grief, hardship, pain, or harm, even a thorn that pricks him, Allah expiates his sins because of it.
ما أصاب المسلم من هم ولا غم ولا نصب ولا وصب ولا أذى حتى الشوكة يشاكها إلا كفر الله بها من خطاياهAllah afflicts the one for whom He desires good.
من يرد الله به خيرًا يصب منهThe greatest reward comes with the greatest trial. When Allah loves a people He tests them. Whoever accepts that wins His pleasure but whoever is discontent with that earns His wrath.
إن عظم الجزاء مع عظم البلاء وإن الله إذا أحب قومًا ابتلاهم، فمن رضي فله الرضا ومن سخط فله السخطSo, O servant of Allah!
