A word from the Shaykh regarding wedding celebrations and the evils in celebrations.

The Shaykh : As for what I would like to speak about in the topic that is the topic of the hour, it is what concerns celebrations, wedding celebrations. We must know facts. The first fact is that marriage is a blessing from Allah (Mighty and Majestic), is it not? Marriage is a blessing from Allah, as Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He) said: [Ar-Rum 30:21]. This is among the signs of Allah and among the blessings of Allah. If that is the case, is it fitting for us to open this blessing with something forbidden? The answer is no. Among the forbidden things is that men mix with women in these parties. Rather, young men mix with young women, and perhaps something beyond the mixing occurs, such as dancing. I am not saying this about our country, but I hear that there is mixing between men and women, and dancing by men and women occurs on this occasion. This is undoubtedly a denial of the blessing. It is obligatory upon us to keep men away from women. We place these in one place and these in another place. There is no blame on women beating the hand drum and singing clean, pure songs that indicate welcoming the attendees and joy over this marriage, and the like. As for taking musical instruments and obscene songs, no. That is, it is not permissible for us to expand and say that singing and beating the hand drum in marriage are among the prescribed matters, then we expand and bring in musical instruments and obscene female singers. Indeed, this is not permissible. If Allah has granted us a dispensation in something, let us restrict ourselves to the dispensation. The Shari'ah has not granted a dispensation for this type of music on this occasion, meaning the playing of the hand drum. This is a type of song, except for the purpose of introducing some joy to the soul on this occasion. As for turning it into something else, this is not permissible. The second fact: It is not befitting, rather, if you wish, I say it is not permissible, to raise these songs via a loudspeaker to the outside, due to the disturbance of the neighbors that results from it, and the exposure of the woman's voice in a way that incites fitnah. And Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) said to the wives of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): [Al-Ahzab 33:32] up to His saying: [Al-Ahzab 33:32]. It is known that the emergence of a woman's voice while she is singing is a stronger fitnah than her softening her speech to one of the people. And this fact, every one of us must be aware of it. How is it fitting for you to place a loudspeaker at its highest volume, on the wall of the palace, harming the neighbors and disturbing them, and exposing the woman's voice? If it is necessary, place a loudspeaker inside the palace, in the place where only the women are, and that is sufficient. The third fact: These women come to the palaces with their guardians. The guardian places her and leaves. He goes to his companions, and perhaps the duration is long, and the party ends, and this woman's guardian has not arrived. This is a great problem and a great danger. From guardianship and care is that the woman's guardian, if he places her in a place, should be near her, such that if she needs him for an urgent need, or needs him after the end of the party, he is near and he takes care of her himself, fearing that she may perish and someone else takes care of her. And if he is unable to be near her, he does not bring her at all, because bringing her to the place of the party is not obligatory. Even if she is from the relatives, if he is unable to take care of her himself, or someone else from her mahrams takes care of her, there is no need for her to attend at all. But many people are negligent in these matters, and that is an error, and you are responsible for your family, in this world and the Hereafter. So do not lose this responsibility by following your desire, your heedlessness, and your negligence in the matters of your family.
