Ruling on lengthening the garment for a valid excuse

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
In fact, since we are discussing the length of the garment, this is a message from Sa'd Munif al-Ruqay from Riyadh. He says: There is something on my leg, near the ankle, that I do not want to expose to people. Is it permissible for me to lengthen my garment or robe so that it hangs below the ankle, or not?
Answer: This may expose him to bad suspicion about him, and it may serve as an example for others in this apparent evil, which is letting the garment hang below the ankles (isbal). Therefore, he should not do that, even if there is something on his leg. However, he can wear socks (sharabāt); he can wear them, and there is nothing to fear in that, nor does it expose people to suspicion or bad opinion of him. As for letting his clothes hang below the ankles for this purpose, what is recommended is to leave that and suffice with wearing socks that cover this matter. Yes.
The presenter: Yes, may Allah reward you.
