Ruling on Taking the Mushaf with the Left Hand

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
He also asks: Is it permissible to hold the Mushaf with the left hand?
Answer: I do not know of any specific ruling regarding this, but taking it with the right hand is better. The right hand is preferred in all circumstances. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used his right hand for his purification, for combing his hair, for taking and giving, for shaking hands, and the like. He used his left hand for everything else. So, if there is a need to take the Mushaf with the left hand—because the right hand is tired, or because he intends to take something with it, or something similar—there is no harm, if Allah wills. This is because the two hands cooperate; the hands work together. The intention in taking it with the left hand is not to insult it or to be careless, but rather cooperation from one hand to the other. So they cooperate. Whether he places it in the left hand and reads, or in the right hand and reads, there is nothing wrong with it, if Allah wills. However, having it in the right hand is more appropriate and better, due to the aforementioned preference for the right hand in taking, giving, eating, and the like. Yes.
