Guidelines for Taking Birth Control Pills

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
This message is from Jordan; the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. Zarqa. Zarqa Police Directorate, Corporal/Abdul Qader Salah .. In fact, the brother Abdul Qader is presenting a financial problem, I believe. He says: What is the ruling of the religion regarding treatments for preventing pregnancy and their use? I am married and have children, and when a child is born, he does not suckle from his mother because she has no milk. The child is fed with powdered milk, which leads to the child eventually suffering from infections and disturbances as a result of this feeding. This forces us to visit the doctor and the pharmacy, which is a terror due to the high costs. I am even unable to secure the family's monthly expenses because of the high prices and the unbearable cost of living. I want to know the opinion of the religion regarding the use of pregnancy prevention treatments so that I can use them, so that I can secure life for my family, for whom I find it difficult to secure their basic needs. If the religion does not allow the use of these treatments, then I have no choice but to separate from my wife. Therefore, I ask you to be kind enough to answer me. And peace be upon you, and Allah's mercy and blessings.
Answer: There are many treatments for preventing pregnancy, but there are known pills that doctors recognize. If a woman takes them to prevent consecutive pregnancies for one or two years, there is no harm in that when there is a need for it. If she breastfeeds the child and does not leave him to powdered milk, that is better for her, if it is possible for her to breastfeed him and she has milk. Her breastfeeding is one of the causes of her not becoming pregnant, as long as she breastfeeds him until he is weaned. This is the general rule, by the permission of Allah. If she is breastfeeding, she generally does not become pregnant. So she should breastfeed him and save her husband the burden of the effort in the pharmacies and buying other necessities. If it happens that she has no milk, then he should take care of what is required regarding the child, and Allah will give him from His bounty.
And whoever fears Allah - He will make for him a way out (3) And will provide for him from where he does not expect.وَمَنْ يَتَّقِ اللَّهَ يَجْعَلْ لَهُ مَخْرَجًا * وَيَرْزُقْهُ مِنْ حَيْثُ لا يَحْتَسِبُ
[Divorce:2-3]
And whoever fears Allah - He will make for him of his matter ease.وَمَنْ يَتَّقِ اللَّهَ يَجْعَلْ لَهُ مِنْ أَمْرِهِ يُسْرً
[Divorce: 4].
So the father of the child should seek help from Allah, ask Him from His bounty, and adopt the good means, the means of sustenance. And there is good news for him: Allah will give him from His bounty, Exalted and Majestic is He. There is no harm in the woman taking pills that prevent pregnancy for one or two years, to be kind to the father regarding consecutive pregnancies, and to be kind to her as well regarding the hardship of pregnancy. This is after this, quickly. There is no harm in this, if Allah wills. And if she is patient with pregnancy and he is patient with pregnancy, even if it continues, that is better than better. Perhaps Allah will bring forth from their loins one who worships Allah and benefits the Muslims.
So the conclusion is: taking pregnancy pills is permissible when there is a need for them, but it should not be prolonged. A period of one or two years, then she stops so that she becomes pregnant and the children increase. And Allah is the Provider. It is not befitting for the father to ... [struggle with] the burden of expenses, for Allah will make it easy for him and help him with it if he turns to Him and seeks His help, Exalted and Majestic is He. Yes.
