Proposal for a gathering of the scholars of the Ummah to denounce the innovation of Mawlid celebrations

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The question: Also, in his last question, Abbas Abd al-Fattah asks: Why is there not, for example, a gathering of all the scholars to explain the truth so that these customs, which occur in all Islamic countries, can be changed?
Answer: Many gatherings have taken place, and this issue has been discussed in many gatherings, but minds still differ in their understanding, and those who look into scholarly issues still have disagreements in their viewpoints. Some approve of it because it involves studying the biography of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and some say that it is an opportunity to raise people's awareness and teach them some matters of the religion, and some argue with other things. But whoever looks into the evidence from the Shari'ah knows that these arguments have no basis, and that it is obligatory to prevent these celebrations. It is possible to teach people the rulings of the Shari'ah in scholarly gatherings and study circles, and in studying the Prophetic biography, without the need for these celebrations. These celebrations are not the means of teaching; rather, there are other means, such as radio, the press, and scholarly circles, in which the rulings of the Shari'ah are clarified and the biography of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) is clarified, without the need for these innovations.
