The ruling on nail polish for women and placing clothing zippers at the back

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
This message reached us from one of the listeners. In her message, she says: "Peace be upon you, and Allah's mercy and blessings. As for what follows, I am the one who is confused, and I hope you will clarify to me what is in this message. I ask you to kindly clarify the following. In her message, she states that she always listens to the program, and she wants to know the ruling on the nail polish that is applied to the fingers and the zippers that have recently been placed on the backs of garments. Were these used in the early days of Islam, or not?"

Answer:
We do not know of any original basis for these; rather, they are among the new things that have arisen among people. Nail polish and zippers are things that have recently appeared among people, and we know of no original basis for them. Therefore, nail polish should be left off because it covers the nails and prevents water from reaching them. However, if a woman uses it and removes it when performing ablution, the matter is broad in this regard. But it should not be left on during ablution because it prevents water from reaching the skin.
As for the issue of zippers, the matter is broad. If they are at the front, that is better and more preferable, like the previous method where pockets are in front, which is well known. If the pocket is at the back, or if it is secured such that the 'awrah (part of the body that must be covered) is not exposed with it, then it does not harm her, if Allah wills.
