Ruling on describing the one who abandons prayer as a disbeliever and one who associates partners with Allah

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
But can it be said of the one who abandons prayer that he is one who associates partners with Allah?
Answer: Yes, it is said of him: he is one who associates partners with Allah, and it is said of him: he is a disbeliever, in the most correct of the scholars' opinions. However, the majority said: disbelief less than disbelief, and shirk less than shirk. The correct opinion, which is held by a group of scholars, is that it is major shirk and major shirk, as Ibn al-Qayyim (may Allah have mercy on him) clarified in his book: The Prayer. Al-Dhahabi mentioned it from a group in [his book] The Major Sins, and others (may Allah have mercy on them) mentioned it. The hadith mentioned previously, which Muslim narrated in his Sahih from the hadith of Jabir, indicates this, in which the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Between a man and disbelief and shirk (associating partners with Allah) is the abandonment of prayer.بين الرجل وبين الكفر والشرك ترك الصلاة
, so he named it disbelief and shirk. The definite disbelief and the definite shirk, with the article of definiteness, is major disbelief and major shirk:
Between a man and disbelief and shirk (associating partners with Allah) is the abandonment of prayer.بين الرجل وبين الكفر والشرك ترك الصلاة
, narrated by Muslim in his Sahih. Yes.
