The ruling on praising the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) accompanied by beating hand drums

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
He asks and says: Is the prophetic praise accompanied by beating hand drums, and striking the bellies with swords and sticks in the Rifa'i manner, forbidden or permissible?

Answer:
This is reprehensible, forbidden, and a religious innovation, and it is among the superstitions of the Sufis. Praise is done with good words without hand drums, and without striking the bellies and heads, but rather with good words. One says: He is the Seal of the Prophets, He is the best of the Prophets, He is the most worshipful of people, He is the most truthful of people. These are good words. As for adding that he is called upon other than Allah, or sought for aid other than Allah, this is major shirk (associating partners with Allah). Or if it is said that he knows the unseen, this is disbelief. But he is praised with the truth, praised with what is established that he is worthy of—(peace and blessings be upon him)—such as being the most truthful of people, being the one who conveyed the message and fulfilled the trust, being the best of the messengers—(peace and blessings be upon him)—and similar true things.
As for praising him by saying that he knows the unseen, or that it is permissible to call upon him other than Allah, or that he was created from light, or from the Footstool of the Merciful, this is false and a lie. He was created from base water like the rest of people, and he was not created from light. He does not know the unseen—(peace and blessings be upon him)—and it is not permissible to worship him other than Allah, nor to call upon him other than Allah, nor to seek aid from him, nor to swear by him—(peace and blessings be upon him). All of this is reprehensible. May Allah guide them all. Yes.
