Ruling on acting upon dreams that contradict the Shari'ah

Question:
A message was received for this program. The sender describes himself as: I am Shaykh Mustafa, a resident of al-Ramtha. I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) in my dream saying: “Call the people to faith and the worship of the Most Merciful. Whoever reads this message and writes it down nine times will see great joy after ten days, and whoever does not write it down will see great sadness after ten days. Allah is a witness to what I say.” Is this true? Should we write it down? Please inform us. May Allah reward you with good.

Answer:
This dream is invalid; it has no truth to it. Either you are lying, or a Shaytan has deluded you. Or you are lying, or it is from the Shaytan who has deluded you. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) does not say this. Even if the Noble Qur'an were written down a hundred times, it is not necessary that the person will get what he wants, or that he will be struck with sadness. Matters are determined by righteous deeds, by the mindfulness of Allah, and by obedience to Him, not merely by writing. If someone writes the Qur'an but does not act upon it, it will not benefit him. Or if he writes the authentic hadiths but does not act upon them, they will not benefit him; rather, they will be an argument against him. This is one of the superstitions that some people do: they write things, a dream or words, saying, “Whoever writes this will get such and such, and such and such, and whoever distributes it will get such and such.” All of this is invalid. It is all from the superstitions of the charlatans and the liars. We ask Allah for safety and well-being. Yes.

The presenter : May Allah accept it.
