The Ruling on Hijab for Women

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
She says: We are not accustomed to covering the face; we are content with covering only the head and body. Is this sufficient in Islam? And is hijab—and by that I mean covering the face—revealed specifically for the wives of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), or for all Muslim women?

Answer:
Hijab is for everyone. Although the wives of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) were addressed with it, the ruling is general for all Muslims and not specific to them. This is based on His saying (Glorified and Exalted is He) :
And when you ask [his wives] for something, ask them from behind a partition. That is purer for your hearts and their hearts.
[Al-Ahzab: 53]. Purity is required for the wives of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and for all believing women, and hijab is required for everyone, for all believers, male and female.
So hijab is prescribed for the woman in the time of the Prophet and after him (peace and blessings be upon him) because of this noble verse. Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said:
We were with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) during the Farewell Pilgrimage. So when the men approached us, one of us would lower her khimar over her face, and when they moved away, we would uncover it.كنا مع النبي ﷺ في حجة الوداع، فكنا إذا دنا منا الرجال؛ سدلت إحدانا خمارها على وجهها، فإذا بعدوا؛ كشفنا
. Yes.

The presenter : May Allah reward you with good, and may He do you good.
