The Shari'ah-prescribed hijab for women

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
After this, he asks Your Eminence, saying: What is the Shari'ah-prescribed hijab? May Allah reward you with good.

Answer:
The woman is entirely an 'awrah (the part of the body that must be covered), so the Shari'ah-prescribed hijab is that she covers her entire body from the non-mahram (a relative one may not marry), including the face and the hands. As for the mahram, there is nothing wrong with him seeing her face, hands, and head. However, if she is modest and her mahram sees only her face and hands, that would be better and more complete. As for the non-mahram, it is obligatory to cover from him; because Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) said: :
And when you ask [his wives] for something, ask them from behind a partition. That is purer for your hearts and their hearts.
[Al-Ahzab:53], and He did not exclude anything. He said, Exalted is He:
not expose their adornment except that which [necessarily] appears thereofوَلا يُبْدِينَ زِينَتَهُنَّ إِلَّا مَا ظَهَرَ مِنْهَا
[An-Nur:31]. Ibn Mas'ud and a group of scholars said: this means the garments. Then He said afterwards:
not expose their adornment except to their husbands, their fathersوَلا يُبْدِينَ زِينَتَهُنَّ إِلَّا لِبُعُولَتِهِنَّ أَوْ آبَائِهِنَّ
[An-Nur:31]. The face is part of the adornment, and the hands are part of the adornment. Yes.

The presenter : May Allah reward you with good, and may He do you good.
