The Ruling on the Hereafter Punishment for One Who Has Been Punished in This World

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
If one of the hudud (fixed Qur'anic punishments) is carried out against a perpetrator of a sin in this world, is that sufficient to exempt him from punishment in the Hereafter?

Answer:
Yes, it is sufficient. When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) mentioned shirk (associating partners with Allah) and a summary of sins, he said regarding that:
So whatever Allah catches him for in this world serves as expiation for himفما أدركه الله في الدنيا كان كفارة له
If the hadd is carried out in this world, it serves as expiation for him, provided he dies in that state and does not return to the sin. However, if he returns to it, he will be held accountable for the latter. If he returns to it and does not repent, he will be held accountable for the latter, while the hadd sufficed for the former. But if he committed zina (unlawful sexual intercourse) and the hadd was carried out against him, and then he died in that state, he will not be held accountable for his zina, but rather
The hadd is an expiationالحد كفارة
and praise be to Allah.
As for if he returns to a second zina after being lashed, if he was a virgin and he returned to it, he will be held accountable for the latter, while the hadd sufficed for the former. And so it is with the rest of the sins. For example, if a person kills someone, and they forgive the retaliation (qisas) and accept the blood money (diyah), yes, their right is dropped. But if he returns to killing another person, the right of the other victim remains upon him. And so on.
The point is: if he repents, or fulfills the rights from the aspect of the sin, then fulfilling the rights and repentance cause what has passed to be forgiven. But the new sin remains upon him unless he repents. Yes.
