Question:
A listener sent a question regarding the saying of the Truth, (Blessed and Exalted is He):
He has only forbidden to you dead animals, bloodإِنَّمَا حَرَّمَ عَلَيْكُمُ الْمَيْتَةَ وَالدَّمَ
[al-Baqarah:173], and he asks what is the forbidden blood?

Answer:
The forbidden blood is the poured-out blood, as in the verse of al-An'am:
Say, "I do not find within that which was revealed to me [anything] forbidden to one who would eat it unless it be a dead animal or blood spilled outقُلْ لا أَجِدُ فِي مَا أُوحِيَ إِلَيَّ مُحَرَّمًا عَلَى طَاعِمٍ يَطْعَمُهُ إِلَّا أَنْ يَكُونَ مَيْتَةً أَوْ دَمًا مَسْفُوحًا
[al-An'am:145]. Poured-out: it is the flowing blood, which is what drains from the slaughtered animal at the time of slaughter, flowing out from it; this is called poured-out. This is what is forbidden. As for what remains in the veins, staying in the veins; this is not forbidden. It remains inside them, in their veins, in their flesh; it is not forbidden. Rather, it is the poured-out blood that drains from it when it is slaughtered. Yes.

The presenter : May Allah reward you with good.
