The Ruling on Spilled Blood

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Your Eminence! What is the ruling on spilled blood if it hits a garment? Is there a difference between a large amount and a small amount?
Spilled blood is ritually impure,By the saying of Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He):
Say, "I do not find within that which was revealed to me [anything] forbidden to one who would eat it unless it be a dead animal or blood spilled out or the flesh of swine - for indeed,قُلْ لا أَجِدُ فِي مَا أُوحِيَ إِلَيَّ مُحَرَّماً عَلَى طَاعِمٍ يَطْعَمُهُ إِلَّا أَنْ يَكُونَ مَيْتَةً أَوْ دَماً مَسْفُوحاً أَوْ لَحْمَ خِنْزِيرٍ فَإِنَّهُ
[Al-An'am 6:145]
that is, what is mentioned as ((an abomination)) [al-An'am: 145] that is, ritually impure.

The scholars said: A small amount is excused; this is because it is difficult to guard against it, as it is rare for a person to slaughter an animal without some of it reaching him. So they excused a small amount, may Allah have mercy on them. But what is a small amount? Is a small amount what a person considers small himself, or what the general public considers small? It is what the general public considers small, because if we made it depend on what each person considers small in his own view, the person with obsessive doubts would consider a small amount to be large, and the negligent person would consider a large amount to be small. Therefore we say: The standard is the middle ground of people. As for estimating it as a quarter of a dirham or something similar, that has no place in consideration; because such estimates must have evidence.

The questioner: What is your opinion regarding the blood that remains after the death of the sheep?Answer: The blood that remains after the death of the sheep, even if it is a lot, is pure. Therefore, if a person, after the slaughtered animal has died and he has reached its heart, takes the heart and drinks the blood in it, that is permissible because it is pure.
